Finally a Fix for the Acer 9810 Wireless Transfer Speed and RDP Lost Connections

If you have an Acer 9810 and are having problems with slow network transfers over the wireless and/or having problems connecting using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) this may help you. The big ole laptop in question comes equipped with an Intel 3945abg wireless card. I say card but was told by one of the techs at Acer that this is actually integrated onboard although I haven’t confirmed that for myself. I hope that it is not as it would seriously limit the upgrade path.

Fix for Slow Network Transfers on the Acer 9810 with Intel Pro 3945abg

You may have read my rant earlier about problems with slow transfers on my Acer 9810 with the Intel 3945abg wireless adapter. I decided to check out Intel’s site and see what type of drivers they had available. It is not generally a good idea to put generic drivers on a system that may have been customized by the OEM but in this case I didn’t think I had much to lose.

Acer 9810 Wireless Connection and Support Issues

I have been promising to write a review of my new Acer 9810 laptop, their top on the line unit, for about a week now. I set about clearing up some issues with it this morning so that I could complete the process of transferring my data from the old Dell and start using it full time. This while I was recovering from what I suspect is a moderate case of food poison from my local McDonalds.

Local McDonalds Dollar Menu Food Poison?

The local McDonald's dollar menu cheeseburgers are kicking my butt for the second day in a row. On Sunday night my wife stopped by our local McDonalds and picked me up a few of their 99 cent double cheeseburgers from the dollar menu. I know it’s not a good idea to eat late at night but I hadn’t eaten all day and was hungry so I gave into temptation. Monday morning I woke up in complete misery.

21 4 After Day- The Method Man or Something Else?

21 4 After Day is something that I keep seeing come up in searches however I have no idea what it means. I think it might be folks search for “21:4 The Day After” by The Method Man but I’m not really certain. If that is the case I know there isn’t any content on this site that even remotely matches. If you know what it means please let me know, leave a comment below.

A laptop or a mobile computer system?

I received the Acer 9810 laptop on Monday but have been too busy to set it up. I’m actually writing this on my old Dell. I did get it out of the box and created restore DVD’s last night. This sucker is HUGE. This is far more than a laptop, it is a computer system. With the dell I just grab it and move from one spot to the other without thinking but the Acer is so big and heavy I don’t think I will be doing that much anymore.

GottaBreakUp.com - "Officially Dumped"

Of the two domains I was bidding on over at the evil SnapNames site I was the high bidder on one, GottaBreakUp.com - Break Up. The other site, ForYourDate.com, went to someone else after a prolonged bidding war. The way Snap is setup if there are any bids in the last minutes of the auction the auction is automatically extended.

Chicago Style Pizza @ ChicagolandPizza.com

There are two things that I have missed since I moved from Chicago when I was a teen, Italian Beef Sandwiches and Chicago style pizza. I’m not a huge fan of Italian food normally. Oh sure I like some good lasagna now and then or spaghetti with Italian Sausage but pizza or Italian beef’s with sweet peppers and you have my attention.

Home Depot and My Acer 9810 - Keeping Customers Happy

In one of my earlier posts I had wrote about ordering an Acer 9810 laptop from home depot and then followed up with a bit of complaining because it did not ship on time. I have been working on the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy for the website this afternoon but decided to take a little break and check up on my system. After reviewing the order status online I found that the unit still had not shipped. This means that there is no way I was going to take delivery tomorrow as promised when I placed the order.

SnapNames and their twisted domain name "Auctions"

I few weeks back I had placed bids on a couple of expiring domain names over at SnapNames. These were actually two domains that I maintained for another person who just up and disappeared without even paying me for my services. I had heard from a friend, the person that actually introduced us that he was having some family problems so really I wasn’t too concerned about being paid. I think we all know family has to take priority over business and know he only did what he believed was right.
