Actually I’m just learning about Internet Marketing. My forte has always been infrastructure services and mass deployments of workstations. But now I’m attempting to develop the skill set needed to market products and services in cyberspace. Out of curiosity I decided to see how difficult it would be to get the phrase “I Hate Internet Marketing” to rank high in search results.
I wrote a small webpage that explains my reasoning behind using that particular phrase as a test item. It is located on a website that has only been online a few months as a photo sharing site but has never been promoted. Go read I Hate Internet marketing if you are curious to find out more. Hopefully within the next few days Google will index the page and it will shoot to the top of the SERP.
Because I have no real experience promoting online I have my fingers crossed. From what I understand writing this blog entry could actually help my efforts because I used a link to that page with keywords to my site above. Of course for this to really make any difference there has to be a ton of those links pointing back to my content. A few don’t seem to make any difference in the way results are sorted.
However I have also discovered that one back link from a site with a decent page rank can pull a page out of the supplemental index returning it to Google’s main index. I don’t know if this will actually hold without additional fresh back links being indexed from time to time. Only time will tell if this is something I must keep doing to be seen in the marketplace.
