We are talking about removing the acoustic ceilings then putting wall texture in its place. There are a couple of areas on the ceilings along the wall that were damaged from rain water seeping in and destroying the drywall in two rooms. The water problem wasn’t even noticeable until the drywall was to the point of completely crumbling.
One of the rooms affected is the great room, which consists of the living room, dining room, office area and connected hallway. It is basically a huge L shaped room with a hall that connects to the rest of the home. The other room was the master bedroom. We could spray new acoustic now that the drywall has been patched but I really dislike the looks of it. I can’t see myself spending money to put back something that I think is so ugly.
The patches are a major eyesore but I’m probably going to put this project on hold until the fall. It was kind of the plan to partially remodel the kitchen with new floors, counter tops, appliances and light fixtures. It is 20 years old and in desperate need of an update. The kitchen also contains those popcorn ceilings so we can just go thru the house and do them all at once.
Now that I think about it the bathrooms have already been remodeled with new flooring, lights, walls textured and fixtures including tubs. After doing the kitchen, installing new carpet as we plan, scraping the ceilings, texturing the walls and painting there will be virtually no surfaces left untouched.
